Whimsy: Not f*cking cool Tim Hortons

wanhelluvadivaa:

Tim Hortons, Canada’s largest restaurant chain, currently serves eggs and pork from farms that use battery cages and gestation crates, extreme practices that treat chickens and pigs like machines. Other major fast food chains have already abandoned these practices.

Battery-caged chickens are so…

From the Beehive to the Bear

Well as I’m sure all 3 people who read this blog already know, we’re moving! Hubs got a sweet job out in the San Diego area, so we bid farewell to Smog Lake City at the beginning of May. So far, we’ve heard a lot of encouraging things from everyone. Like, “Well, if it sucks you can always move back!”

James is in California right now, looking for apartments/working, so I’ve been occupying our apartment by myself. Fortunately I have friends that have been helping to keep me busy (thanks guys!) so I don’t turn into a hermit. I have come to realize that I am both very boring and a paranoid basket-case without James around. Boring in personality and also food choices (read: I’ve been eating the same things for breakfast, lunch, and dinner every day), and paranoid in the sense that if my dishwasher makes a weird sound I’m positive it’s someone that’s come to murder me. Late last night someone drove by my apartment complex with the bass so loud in their car that it shook my walls, and I was pretty positive it was the Rapture. So, obviously, I do very well living by myself.

It’s been really great to get to spend some time with my friends, though. I’m glad I have this time to be able to say goodbye. Not that California is super far away, but it’s far enough. I hate that I can’t just bring all my friends with me! However, I heard the song California Girls on the radio the other day and that reminded me that I am excited to live in The Golden State.

Some things I am excited about for living in California:

-Pretty much no snow ever

-Living next to the ocean (!)

-Year round farmer’s markets

-Learning to surf (?)

-Being able to recyle (easily)

And although Katy Perry says that this outfit is what all California Girls wear, I’m going to have to politely decline.

I’m excited for this new adventure for us! I’ve always wanted to live by the ocean and be a beach bum. It’s going to be a crazy, hectic move but I hope it’ll be worth it. Good thoughts and well wishes are appreciated!
